The fresh set of pin poking sheets features watercolor illustrations of animals and naturally draws attention to the child. The pin poking sheets were designed as an extension activity from our best-selling sound cabinet. We added the names and beginning sounds of the animals to connect the sound, the symbol and the illustration. It is a special collaboaration between Montessorily and Creative Little Minds by Vivien Chu.
A fine motor activity for pre-writing preparation readily prepared for home learning, the pin poking exercise teaches the child the three finger grasp as well as applying just the right amount of pressure to poke the hole, not too much, and not too little, hence an essential pre-writing skill to attain.
These sheets are a progressive set from our first pin poking set of geometric shapes. (find the “pin poking set” in our shop) We have included two levels of difficulties in this animal pin poking sheets. The child could start from the animals with large and loose dots. And as he feels confident with them, he can progress to the patterns with small and dense dots. These sheets with smaller and denser dots require finer hand eye coordination. Hence we suggest them to be used after the first pin poking set. The child can start poking on the dots and then between the dots, and eventually the child can poke the shape out by herself!
Instructions: We recommend that parents trim the patterns from the big sheets first and the children only work on pin poking each pattern one at a time.
Safety Reminder: Adult supervision is recommended while using the tools. After use, place the push pins in a Child Proof container such as a vitamin bottle. During the activity, if the child needs to step away, show them and remind them to put away the push pin safely first.
